There's been a growing trend in the state of popular culture that is inspiring us to enjoy the days we have right now. In an essence: to take life into our own hands because who knows how long we have left in this world. (Pepsi, American Eagle, One Direction to name a few who've gotten in on this.)
Going on what must be 3 years, "Live While You Can" has been Dance Party Massacre's motto. The realization that we could die any day has always been a part of the essence of the brand. (And the idea of something causing us to die before we “can” is something I enjoy playing with.) I like to use deathly imagery and horror themes and juxtapose them with life to create a contrast that might inspire us about our days ending, but also the days we spend living.
I believe this motto embodies so much about DPM that the saying is stitched onto the bottom of our clothing; a little reminder every day. It's a mantra for the young at heart to have a good time, but also a push to remind ourselves not to take our lives and fears so seriously. In the end we'll all be dust anyway, so live while you can.
I sorta feel weird sometimes explaining all the conceptual and emotional inspiration behind this brand. I know most people just look and think "Woa! Horror stuff and blood and fun things!". In reality, the reason I care so much about this brand is because there's more to it than that. This brand needs a bloody heart in order to live.
So let's party hard, live big, take risks and have some fun. Enjoy life, because in our world their might be a serial killer common after ya! But if the signs of popular culture show, this theme isn't just for horror junkies or party thrashers. It's more than that. It's your dreams. Go live them! I can't tell you enough to at least try.
