Mediumship: New Works by Damion Silver

Come check out new work by Damion Silver a week from today on Friday, March 5th at the Corduroy Boutique and Gallery in Portland, ME. Coincidentally enough the shop also recently started carrying Dance Party Massacre product, so you can see some of our latest stuff too! Peak Organic Brewery will be providing some free drinks to go around.

Damion’s work often has motifs of collage with hand-drawn imagery, but my favorite stuff from him involves these sleepy-eyed characters who pop up repeatedly. It’s also great to see his work translated into the crisp, clean lines (of course I would enjoy that) of his laser-etched pieces.

Read more about the show and Mr. Silver here.
More photos of his work after the cut.

“Funny, this is pretty much exactly how we figured the fictional versions of them would’ve turned out.”

Ha ha.

Steed Lord – Remember Me

This quartet from Iceland will be at the Villa Victoria Center For The Arts this Sunday for the Valentine’s Day Thunderdome XVII. An all-encompassing electronic band, Steed Lord also design their own merch and have done a limited line for H&M outside of America. I hear they recently set up shop in LA, so expect more from this colorful group in our neck of the woods.

I Love Monsters EP (FREE Music Download!)

You can download I Love Monster’s EP “Rescue” at the link below. If anything, just for their current single “Heart/Beat” which sounds somewhere between Bloc Party and Placebo.

Together Boston

Beginning tomorrow and going all week long until Sunday is the launch of TOGETHER. This will be the first time the week long electronic music festival takes place, and it’s a pretty impressive lineup for Boston (or anywhere else).

I’m currently getting some Dance Party Massacre swag together to promote and hand out at the VIP event at Rise nightclub. We will also have a table on Sunday, February 14th at the Get Together market selling exclusive colorways and discounted prices.

Check out the full schedule here which includes appearances by Tittsworth, AC Slater, Klever, Neon Indian, Red Foxxx, Nicky Digital, Hot Pink Delorean, and Steed Lord.

Bread & Butter: My 5 Fav Brands

Super Sunglasses – I hate spending lots of money on sunglasses, because I just end up 1) losing them 2) dropping them or 3) throwing them. I would be more careful with these (OK, maybe not) and actually consider spending over $150 on these finely designed works of art—especially the Luciano 3 Occhi. Lovely.

Lazy Oaf – Headed by artist Gemma Shiel, this UK brand shows if you’re going to try and make cute and fun indie-riffic apparel, this is how you do it. JUST GO FOR IT and make a hamburger sweatshirt!

Iron Fist – There seems to be a lot of horror-themed brands out there right now. Although none seem as big, or as cool, as Iron First. Mixing punk, tattoo, and skate culture together they’ve created their own brand—Even managing to please the ladies too with a pretty rockin (Dare I say “sleek”?) high heel collection. (PLUS they’re vegan materials!)

Denham – Premium denim seems to be all the rage right now, but Denham (new since 2009) seem to really have a passion for it. I may be a little bias as I was able to visit their first retail store in Amsterdam, but everything about the shop came across as great quality with attention to detail and pure enthusiasm for what they make.

PushButton – Besides their interesting silhouettes, this female-driven clothing line from Korea surprised me in the way it managed to make things looks sophisticated and fun at the same time. The color combinations alone were enough to grab my attention.
