DPM at Throwed in One Week!

aug6

Now this is a bash to attend!

A couple months or so back our friend E-Marce had some legal trouble because of a dance night he was involved with. And now he’s in debt thousands of dollars! Come support one of Boston’s most prominent DJs by coming out to a night with so much going (just read the flyer!) I can’t even get into it.

emarce

Dance Party Massacre will be there next Thursday at the Middle East—Downstairs. We’ll have a clothing booth, and be giving away free stuff! Come check out the shirts, say Hi, listen to some bands (like The Blue Pages who we sponsor), and have a good time!

RSVP TO THE FACEBOOK EVENT

Fan Pic Post

screamteamfans

Just thought I’d post some photos I’ve seen of people in DPM.
(More after the cut.)
Feel free to send your own over to the Scream Team.
(Maybe we’ll do something with them one day.)
Or upload them to our Facebook page, or tag us on Myspace.

Recently I’ve heard more and more stories of friends out in NY, or walking around Allston, or even myself at a bar—And people have come up pointing out that they know the brand, or they see it on someone they don’t know.

Tell me those stories. :)

Cobra Starship Makes Leighton Meester Go Bad

OK, so there are many reasons why I think I should feel bad about posting this video. The least of which are that it features an actress from Gossip Girl… a teen show… on the CW… meant for women… and she’s now a “singer”.

That didn’t even talk about the actual band or song, and I am already ashamed.
No, but really I’m not. Because I’m sure Gabe Saporta knows he’s a sell out, and if you know you are than I am OK with it.

So turn up the trendy mix of the moment and let me have a mindless dance party, because the best parties don’t require my brain much.

Dollhouse at Comic Con and Unaired Episode!

dollhouse-tv-series-official-poster-mq-01-2582c1

Sooooo you already know my weakness for horror-inspired, Sci-Fi TV. But I’m also a Joss Whedon fanatic. I got sucked into Season 1 of Dollhouse and now wished I lived in California (or had the type of job where I could just pick up and leave on a cross-country road trip) so that I could be at Comic Con in San Diego this weekend. Not only will Joss and Eliza Dushku be on a panel, but they’re showing the unaired 13th episode ‘Epitaph One.’

Not familiar? A run down if you will: Eliza plays Echo on the show, one of several people whose minds are wiped clean by an underground agency only to be programmed with fresh personas for hire to the Richie Richs of the world. Their implanted personalities can fit any role or situation—lover, friend, assassin, kidnap negotiator, you name it. When at rest, these mindless peeps or “actives” are pretty much vegetables (or dolls, hence the title). The whole scenario/series raises a smart, witty commentary on society and the blurred lines of morality and perfection.

Fox got its knickers in a twist and decided not to air the 13th episode, saving it for the Season 1 DVD (on sale 7/28!) because it doesn’t really follow the logic/structure of the first season. Joss told Entertainment Weekly that the episode is meant to tie the series as a whole together or to lead into Season 2. Despite my impulse to tell Fox to sod off, I gotta say they have a point since the episode is set in 2019 and definitely fast-forwards from where Season 1 left off.

Check out Joss’ teaser for Comic Con, along with an ‘Epitaph One’ preview and fun facts. Oh what the hell, here are some event pics too. Are you a fan of DH? What about of other shows at Comic Con? Drop a line and let us know!

Justin Broadbent for Absolut Vodka

justin_broadbent_absolut

I’m currently working on a post about creative people I think you should be watching out for. On that list is a man by the name of Justin Broadbent. I plan on releasing that list soon, so why am I talking about him early?

Well, Mr. Broadbent is working on some time sensitive material for a project that also deserves its own post. So here it is!

Absolut Vodka in Canada have called upon him to create a pop-up installation station somewhere in Canada sometime in August. They’ve given him the phrase “In an Absolut world, opportunities always pop up.” to be inspired from. Justin has shown talent across different mediums including photography, graphic design, and video which should work to his benefit in creating one big experiential show.

bottle

Justin has been keeping track of his process at this website, with most recently asking for some outside contributions. He wants you to send him a Message in a Bottle, an online version of what you would send out to the world for anyone to read. He wants to know what you think about opportunity, and then he might use it in the final showdown.

What an interesting …opportunity!

PS-I wonder if he’s gonna get a tonload of vodka from this deal?

The Presets

OK, so I knnoow The Presents aren’t new (so don’t talk about how “unhip” I am), but I’m really bad at keeping up with music. I kinda jump around and hold on a bit and then grab onto something else.

Even though I completely loved The Presets “Girl And The Sea” back when I got it as a free song off iTunes, I never really kept up on them. And I probably would have if I knew how energetic, bass-heavy, party-jumping their music would be!

Seriously, “My People“, “Are You The One?“, and “This Boy’s In Love” are everything I want in music right now. Take a look at the video for another song, “Talk Like That”, up above which sounds like the harsh and haunting contrasting music in any Dario Argento film mixed together wonderfully.

So tell me something more about The Presets.

Secret Secret Dance Party

secret_secret_dino_club

Secret Secret Dino Club recently stopped by Boston as him and his crew are touring around the US. They’re picking up shows left and right when they got a free day, so contact him if you have a spot needing some upbeat music!

He just got signed to Drive-Thru Records so be on the look-out for Jayce! DPM fully supports him and his music, even if that means crashing at my place. Actually, especially if that means crashing at my place, then ending up at a random art party with free booze, and it being Mikey’s birthday so things get tipsy.

NEW PRODUCT OUT NOW!

dpmnewproduct

I’m not sure why it took longer than usual to produce new designs, but it probably had to do with brain overload. Full-time Converse design job, with after hours DPM design job leads to me feeling beat! Totally needed a break, so I did that for a bit …because I own this piece. :)

We just released 3 new designs, 2 new colorways, updated bandanas, and a necklace (first for DPM!). We also put back into the store some older stock with new product shots. Grab up some of that! I don’t even know why I put it on sale, because we have the room to hold it so just take advantage of it!

dpmnewextras

Starting with these new prints, and going forward, all shirts will now feature tags on sleeves! Just a little touch I wanted to add to things. Stuff like this, along with having others contribute to the blog, tweeting about all things DPM, and finding more bands/DJs/artists to support is just part of the constant growth of the brand.

When I think back to how the first website looked, and how little people knew about Dance Party Massacre, it’s great to have dozens of people asking me the past few weeks about new product—even looking into what might come next. Glad to know people are still finding it interesting enough to keep track of.

btsshot

Big ups to my friends Mario Jalbert for design work, Lara Callahan for photos, Matt St. Gelais for additional shots, and all my friends for modeling!

Now go look at the new stuff! (And order some of it, please!)

Ladyhawke Has Killer Nightmares

Is Ladyhawke throwing a Dance Party Massacre or what?!

This nightmareish video is what my dreams are made of and I think she must have filmed it at one of our dance parties.

Really, this is the song of hers that’s been stuck in my head recently, but peep the video above for some neverending loop of masked boogeymen, fog machines, and scary fun.
