Diana Levine

party-01-providence

There’s a slew of nightlife photographers out there. I feel like a lot of them come about by just photographing their friends being dumb at parties. They aren’t necessarily good at it, they just do it a lot so they become known for it.

I wanted to point out the nightlife photos of Diana Levine. She captures something different. They look candid, but purposeful—capturing a moment worth looking at again even if you don’t know the people in it, or like the fashion someone is wearing. It’s an energy worth seeing.

Check it!

Cut & Paste Boston—Chris Piascik

At the Cut&Paste event a few weekends ago I was checking out the 2D competition. Nothing caught my eye more than watching this freehand illustration of animals and word bubbles! The guy who was competing with this design was Chris Piasick.

Turns out he’s a part of Print Brigade, which you may know from their direct, but fun silkscreened tees. He’s also a designer at Alphabet Arm design studio which I looked into interning at before I went to Prank Design. I realized these guys were local (met them at Baked Fresh), but it slipped my mind!

If you’re into a bit of DIY, freehand, type, and playfulness check out his stuff!

Friday the 13th House Party

f13th05

I decided to throw a house party, and sometimes that’s just what you need. Forget about paying a cover, waiting in lines, or overpriced drinks! Just have friends over and get it going.

f13th03

Friday the 13th was the perfect date to bring fun to an unlucky day, and fill the house with Dance Party Massacre goodness. Thanks to everyone who showed up!

S. Darko

sdarko_poster1

So WTF is this ish?

At first I thought the idea to a sequel to Donnie Darko sounded lame, but the trailer looks pretty mysterious and surreal and creepy. It’s all I want in a Darko movie!

And then I thought about how a low-budget, basically direct-to-DVD film about the end of the world and a precognitive bunny earned enough cult status and acclaim to secure funds for a sequel. It’s things like that which blow my mind, and I kind of have my beliefs in the like, so now I have to rent it come May 12th.

Love it or hate it, the original still stands out it in my mind and connected with me right in the gut. Hopefully the sequel will add more to the story, with perhaps a more ethereal quality from a female lead.

Recent Press

wolves-vs-werewolves-by-dance-party-massacre-2psd-copy

Coty Gonzales, who’s been doing a very good job of keeping up with anything tee related, recently reviewed out Wolves Vs. Werewolves shirt.

Aaand he liked it!
Baazinng!

You can watch him review the shirt live, in the video below. He does a great job of describing what you get, how the shirt is, and details into the brand.

I also did a little interview over at the blogs Antique Flyness and Worth The Weight and sat down for a discussion on the line in Boston for a feature in a local magazine.

If you ever have any questions or wanna talk about the line, feel free to e-mail me. I’m a whore for attention and I love talking about myself. ;)

Throwed Photos/Recap

throwed08
Who are these twins??

Gathered photos from last Tuesday’s Throwed and put them on the website. They aren’t hosted anywhere (unless you count David Yarus’ facebook) for you to click-through and save…

Is that something you think we should add to the site for our events? Create a thumbnail album of the shots??

Anyway, talked to a lot of people about the line that night and had a good time! I was impressed with the music of Bodega Girls and took a clip that night which I posted below.

It’s great! You can even download the song in the clip for free here!

PS-I’ll have photos from the Friday the 13th House Party soon too!

I AM THE TREND.COM

iamthetrend

The new IAmTheTrend launched recently to give visitors even more access and features on up-and-coming brands, music, and more. Along with a discussion forum and a new video blog, they’ve also opened a BigCartel store.

I’m glad to say Dance Party Massacre is a part of that!

So if you feel more comfortable paying through BigCartel, as opposed to Paypal, now you can order select shirts through them!

Sketchbook Project 3 in Boston

sketch01

Headed over to the opening of The Sketchbook Project 3 last Friday. It’s a traveling art show in the idea of a traveling band or something, so it was gone the same night!

Had a friend or two in the show. Artists were sent small books to fill up with art and send back to the curators. Check out some photos and video blew!
