SCREEAAM!!!

Hey everyone,

I’m calling on the Scream Team here, but anyone can help out! Really, as long as you support the line and help us out by spreading word, you’re a part of our team!

This month has been a critical one for us with the release of Season 2, revamp of the website, and all the ways we’ve been getting out there. October will go out with a bang at the Halloween Bash @ Paper this Thursday in Boston, but we will also be having a BIG SALE in our online store for Halloween itself!

WE NEED YOUR HELP IN TELLING PEOPLE!

Not only about the line in general, but this sale is a perfect time to tell people about Dance Party Massacre. This Friday, on Halloween, if everyone who reads this does the few things below it would help us out SO MUCH. So get your lungs ready (figuratively speaking) and prepare to SCREAM!

1) FRIEND/FAN US
Friend us on Myspace. (Add us to Top Friends too!)
Fan our page on Facebook.

2) POST A BULLETIN/LINK
On myspace “Post a Bulletin” about us.
On facebook “Share A Link“.

3) POST A BUTTON/BANNER
On your website or myspace, do it up!
You can find the graphics here.

And finally…

4) BUY A SHIRT!
Of course, that sounds greedy, …and also obvious. But if you like us, buy a shirt to show us and then show it off! The Halloween Sale will be a perfect opportunity for you to grab something up for less.

Thank you all so much who help out.
Please feel free to let us know if you do!

SPREAD THE BLOOD!
Alex

Shepard Fairey in Boston

Hello everyone,

Looks like Boston is getting some love (hate? graffiti not art?) from Obey-creator Shepard Fairey. His work has recently popped up around in a few spots in Cambridge and Somerville. I haven’t made it out there myself to see it in-person, but thanks to Hargo and his flickr account I don’t have to. Unfortunately, if you do want to see it, go NOW! Some of it has already been taken down, or painted over.

But I ask, would Mr. Fairey have come to Boston if he didn’t have an art exhibit at the ICA happening in the near future?

Keep your brain intact,
Alex

Dance Party Massacre in Thrillist

Hey everyone,

We’ve been getting some great press recently and being the main guy behind the line I will just say IT’S REALLY COOL. One of our latest features was in yesterday’s Thrillist.

Thrillist is a daily, free e-mail blast of what’s to know in your city. They only post what they like, so picking us out of the crowd was a pleasure. They currently have 8 editions ranging from San Fransisco to New York—And we were, of course, featured in the Thrillist Boston.

Thanks guys!
Alex

PS-We were also recently posted about on The Awesomer, SubRejime , I Am The Trend, Frizzifrizzi.it, DjMe, Grafitee, and Clothing Wire!!

Halloween Release Party!

Hey everyone!

I can finally announce our party plans to celebrate our 2nd season! We’re teaming up with an awesome dance night called Paper (for those who HAVEN’T heard of it!). It’s easily been one of the most popular electro-dance-indie nights in Boston. And it’s 18+ for all you college kids in town. (Boy, I feel old now!)

The night is so epic there’s a Version A and Version B of the flyer.

That’s Thursday night, COSTUME PARTY, starts at 9PM, and located at Harper’s Ferry (158 Brighton Ave) in Allston. $10 for a night of 2 bands, 3 DJs, 2 photographers, HORRORble visuals, FREE GIVEAWAYS FROM US, and we’ll have a table selling discounted shirts too!

How can you miss this!? You can be there when the clock strikes midnight and Halloween begins! Take the next day off and nurse yourself back to health with NON-STOP HORROR MOVIES!

DJ Red Foxx and Hearthrob

Hey party peeeeps,

For 2 years the dance night Hearthrob at Middlesex in Cambridge has been happening every other Tuesday. I stopped by the last one and I can tell you it’s still going strong. The music was satisfying and the crowd was better. Anyone who comes out on a Tuesday night to rage has got to be into it!

Resident DJ Red Foxx was spinning and wore our Break Dance shirt for the crowd. The guy has been in the scene for a while now, consistently showing up at music nights all around the city and even popping up at Karmaloop TV. To have him wearing our stuff was faaantastic, so next time you see him buy the guy a drink, or a candy bar, or whatever else tastes good.

I also was impressed by the visuals mixed up by Bloodsugar. Going along nicely with the beats of the music and throwing out some stuff that made me laugh, or just confused my brain, was all I could ask for.

How have I managed to write in this so often?!

Johnny Cupcakes Halloween Release

Hey everyone,

Having a “t-shirt line” and being based out of Boston, you better know Johnny Cupcakes comes up once in a while when talking to people about Dance Party Massacre. The man who’s made millions off of cupcake shirts is still at it, and I decided to take a visit to his There’s Something in the Cupcake Mix—Series 3 release last night. Yup, the line went down Newbury (apparently people camped out for days) just for a chance to meet the man and buy his product.

I’d really like this newly-expanded blog to still concentrate only about things relating to DPM, but another graphic apparel brand based out Boston, who is getting major buzz, AND just released a Halloween-inspired collection is about as relevant as it gets.

I didn’t wait in line to buy the shirts, but I did a quick search and Fox News covered the story and apparently leaked the new shirts as well. To my surprise, HORROR MOVIE VILLAINS! ARRGH! Freddy, Jason, and Chucky (No Michael?) with the odd one out being the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

Of course he had to go and do this! Not that it really matters. Johnny may own Halloween right now, but we own it all year round. :) You’ve got to respect the man, but is there room in this business for other graphic lines to take hold? These next few years will be quite interesting to see what becomes of all these DIY t-shirt lines—including Mr. Cupcakes.

Keep up with us,
Alex

DPM at Nicky Digital!

Hey everyone,

Nicky Digital, a man who got his degree in our good old city of Boston (Emerson alum), still keeps ties with the area, even though his photo-blog website is based out of NY. His website covered the Baked Fresh event where we debuted our new line. And when he posted the photos on his site we were featured right on the main page!

Visit his website for the full gallery and other party pics that are constantly updated. His motto is to SMILE for his photos, but judging by the photos I guess I didn’t get the memo! Good thing I had resident smiley-face/model Kamie to keep people coming back. No wonder why whenever I left our booth is when we would sell stuff!

Dance Party Massacre has also been spreading quickly around the internet since the new shirts have been put online. You can check out our Press section which is constantly updated, or just do a quick Blog Search for our name. Thanks to everyone who’s helping get the word out!

Keep smiling,
Alex

Yelle & Funeral Party

Whoa hey everyone,

I’m not gonna lie. I had to move back to NH for a while and I was out of “the scene” for a good bit. I could even say I was never really in it anyway, as I think you can have just as much fun with good friends in your apartment than going out and spending dough you don’t have.

But I’ve been in a lull and have been saying “Screw it.” to restrictions. Now that I’m back in Boston and my day-job is asking less of me, I’ve decided to take a chance to have fun when I can. Starting with MSTRKRFT on Monday, leading into Hearthrob on Tuesday (more on that later), and now checking out Yelle at The Roxy tonight, I’ve been on the up and up again.

Each night I had more fun than the last, and the Yelle concert was a perfect ending to a 3-day binge. It’s the most fun I’ve had at a concert in a while. Opening with just one strong act, the show was quick, fun, and satisfying.

Funeral Party reminded me of my early days in the music scene when it was more about music than the image. The lead had great vocals. Their lyrics were optimistic. It wasn’t dance-rock, it was rock with a fun edge, and I don’t think anyone should have been ashamed to be a fan of them tonight.

Yelle is unabashedly more about image. Her cute persona is half of what made me enjoy watching her. Dancing playfully along to the beats in her over-sized, animal-looking dress you couldn’t help but smile. The other half was her fun, unprecocious music that kept going and going. It was less about each song and more a constant flow of beats. Ones that made the whole crowd jump, and lyrics that made us want to sing—even if we didn’t know French.

You can’t see Yelle here, because I think she somehow ended up lying down on the stage once the crowd rushed it.

I think I just fell in love with Yelle.
Or in another words, j’étais amoureux.

Time for bed,
Alex

MSTRKRFT KILLED BOSTON

Last night I made it out to The Estate to see MSTRKRFT on their Fist of God Tour. I hadn’t been there in a while, but the venue is pretty nice (although SO FAR AWAY from my JP apartment) and their sound system was booming. The only bad mark is it’s currently Halloween-themed, which sounds like a great idea, but those stupid hanging ghost skulls above the dancefloor are a half-ass job and one of em kept getting in the way of our dancing. (AKA, ESTATE, NIX EM!)

I think I showed up during Congo Rock, but I have no idea what these DJs look like. Heck, without their Jason masks on I only knew it was MSTRKRFT because of them being on last and their crazy light show. (The duo has used Jason-style gold masks as part of their image and YES that is why I took a a gander at their music and NO I don’t care how 1-dimensional that sounds!) Anyway, Congo Rock got the job done and LA Riots started out really strong, but once he got into a loop of high-pitched voice spasms I sat down.

MSTRKRFT I have nothing to complain about. Just a great job keeping the crowd going with a sweet light-show going on around them and some interesting video that was simple lo-fi film loops that kept me interested but not distracted. Their finale of the night included a remix of Justice’s D.A.N.C.E. which, to me, was a perfect way of going out.

More photos after the cut, and you can check out more videos at the DPM Youtube account.

Tonight I head to Hearthrob!
Alex
